A very pale bird aged as first winter by bare parts
colors. The underside still retained some fairly clear barring
e.g. on the undertail coverts, and the belly and lower breast. One
of two first winter birds present at the landfill that month.

The bill of this bird appeared slender
compared to many of the American Herring Gulls present at the
site. This with the small dark eye gave it a distinctive look. |
